Dentistry
At our practice, we believe that good dental health is a key part of keeping your pet happy, healthy, and comfortable. Our vet, Georgie, has a special passion for veterinary dentistry and is dedicated to helping pets maintain healthy teeth throughout their lives.
Prevention Is Better Than Cure
Just like in people, dental disease in pets can lead to pain, infection, bad breath, and even problems affecting other organs. The good news is that most dental issues are preventable with the right care at home and regular check-ups.
- Regular dental checks allow us to spot early signs of dental disease before they become painful or require more complex treatment.
- Routine dental cleaning under anaesthesia may sometimes be needed, but delaying care often makes treatment more involved.
By focusing on prevention, we can reduce the need for dental procedures later on and keep your pet feeling their best.
Start Dental Care Early
Introducing dental care at a young age makes a big difference. Getting puppies and kittens used to having their mouths handled early on helps them accept tooth brushing as they grow.
- Daily brushing is the gold standard for dental health.
- Even a few times a week can significantly reduce plaque and tartar build-up.
- We’re always happy to show you how to brush your pet’s teeth and recommend pet-safe brushes and toothpaste.
Our dental procedure includes:
- A full visual assessment of your pet’s mouth, teeth, and gums to identify any signs of dental disease
- A professional scale and polish carried out under general anaesthetic
- Post-operative checks within two weeks of the procedure, if needed
We also offer pre-anaesthetic blood screening to assess major organ function before anaesthesia, and intravenous fluid therapy before, during, and after the procedure to help maintain blood pressure and support recovery.
